Darnell Shaw Environmental (DSE) is a certified Micro
Small Business with the State of California, a certified
California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) MBE firm,
and a California Unified Certification Program (CUPC)
DBE firm. DSE specializes in water quality,
biological resources, technical editing, ecological
restoration and pollution prevention technology.
DSE’s support staff includes hydraulic engineers,
technical editors, environmental scientists, an
analytical chemist, ecologists, and wildlife
biologists. Darnell Shaw, Principal and General
Manager, founded the company in 1997 for the
purpose of protecting the environment and
managing California’s water resources.

Ecological Restoration
When DSE began in 1997, the original slogan was
"ecological restoration, from river, to tree, to sea", as
a representation of the biocycles of the natural
environment (freshwater, terrestrial, and salt water).
"River" represents the freshwater biocycle. "Tree"
represents the terrestrial biocycle. "Sea" represents the
marine biocycle. DSE's qualifications for restoring and
protecting the environment include all three biocycles.
